In some SAS 9.4 instances, the Manage SAS File Types utility in the SAS Deployment Manager might become corrupted or damaged when co-installed alongside SAS® 9.2 and/or SAS® 9.3. When you select the Manage SAS File Types option from the SAS Deployment Manager, you see a table of file extensions and a list of installed SAS products to choose from. The list of SAS products might have one or more empty options. An example of this page with the missing option is shown in the screenshot below.
If you select the Advanced: Select product for each extension option and click Next, it might appear that the next page has not displayed. If the page is displayed as expected, then your Manage SAS File Types utility is not encountering this specific failure. If the page is not displayed as expected, and clicking around the open window forces the window to update graphical elements, then you are experiencing this file type association issue. An example of the page with graphical failures is shown in the screenshot below.
This problem might occur under the following circumstances:
This section discusses the method to repair your SAS 9.4 Manage File Types utility in the SAS Deployment Manager. The steps listed below detail the process to repair your SAS 9.4 installation.
Once the SAS Deployment Wizard finishes repairing your SAS 9.4 installation, you should be able to launch the SAS Deployment Manager and select the appropriate file type associations for your system.
Caution: If you run the Manage SAS File Types utility for SAS 9.2 and/or SAS 9.3 after performing this workaround, the SAS 9.4 File Type Association utility might become corrupted, re-creating problems with the SAS 9.4 Manage SAS File Types utility in the SAS Deployment Manager. If the Manage SAS File Types utility becomes corrupted again, repeating the workaround above should resolve the issue.
